CK 20 Noise at startup

70 - 80% of the time my 2006 CK20 gear will make a loud squealing/screeching sound at startup. Lasts about 5 to 15 seconds. Comes from forward of the operators seat.

Good Grief, I leaned into my speakers in preparation of deciphering the sound from normal sounds. Didn't need to do that, lol. Easy thing first. Hows your fan/alternator belt doing? How free does your water pump feel? This could be belt slippage. If not, we'll move on to your hydraulic system.

I agree with xcgreene. That looks indeed like the fan belt slipping. Probably caused by the alternator producing more current to charge the battery after the starter consumption.

I would remove the tension from the belt, put it aside and check for weird noises that could come from the bearings of the alternator and water pump/fan.

Squirt some soap on the belt and see of the noise goes away.

IMO, you need to check the belt tension (and correct it if it's off) before doing anything else.

I'll add my voice to those saying check the belt. the user manual outlines how much tension and how to check it/adjust it. (I can help out if you don't have yours.)
How long has this been going on?

If the belt has glazed even tensioning it may not help.
You could remove it then start and see if the noise is gone, if so then check all rotating components and replace the belt.

Thanks everyone. Come to think of it it usually doesn't happen on initial cold start. I will check belt tension.

Some belt conditioner can help keep the belt from cracking or drying out as well. I値l throw some on every 10 to 20 hrs or just when I think about it when a few months have passed.

spray some 303 on it let it sit over night. Also good for all belt and hoses on vehicles as well.
