My CK20HST with 250 hrs on it surges while going forward in low, this problem appears to be in the Hydrostat. The problem dosn't occur while backing up. The condition exists thur-out the engine speed range but is less of a problem with the tractor operating under load. Once again, the engine is operating at a steady state. Any ideas? should I be concerned? Fred

Other than low hydro fluid, you have probably done your first service and changed the hydro fluid. The Kioti recommended oils are a 10w-30 weight. If the problem seems to go away after the oil is warm, maybe the oil you're using is to heavy a weight or a straight weight. Just a thought.

10W30 oil in the hydro? I don't believe that's right book says Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid.

The Kioti recommended hydraulic/transmission fluid/oil is a multiviscosity 10w-30 hydraulic/transmission fluid/oil for gears, brakes, and common sump and not a straight weight hydraulic/transmission fluid/oil. Being that they were talking about the hydrostatic transmission and I called it hydro fluid/oil, I believed that they would understand and not use engine rated oil in the hydrostatic transmission. I will be more specific next time.
There is also a 5w-30 hydraulic/transmission fluid/oil that some find useful in the great white north for the very cold Winter temperatures. It can be found in either synthetic or non-synthetic.

Surging could be caused by burnt fluid or filters that need to be changed. If you don't know the history of the oil I would be changing both first up.
My tractor book supplied with the purchase of the tracor recomends "Mobil fluid 423 or 424" or "Exxon Hydraul 560". How does this fit in with your remendations. The existing fluid and filters are good and show no signs of burned oil. Fred

The fluids you mentioned are listed via Kioti along with these others: Shell Donax TD, Texaco TDH oil, Exxon Torque Fluid 56, Pennzoil Hydra Tranz, BP TracTran UTH, Citgo Mystik JT-5 Universal. I've had good luck using the Shell oil in my CK30hst. Did it start surging all of a sudden, after service, after some hard use, or something else you can possibly relate it to?
Victor, Are these muti vicosity hydraulic fluids that you have listed? I am considering changing the hydraulic fluid again, and filters, would like to take the two filters apart for inspection. On the hundred hour service, I found a pc of metal on the magnetic drain plug that appeared to be a piece of spalled gear(1/4"x3/16"), but could have been part of the machining process too. (Wishful thinking) Fred
