I have noticed that the Kmart's sell Craftsman tools. I don't know about the quality anymore, though. And I think the warranty may not be the same. Do any of you know? I may buy a tool or two if they are not much different than the ones sold in Sears.

The tools are the same. you can also take back a broken craftsman tool for exchange at k-mart around here

If I'am not mistaken, K-mart actually bought Sears. Don't know how that happened. I thought Sears would have bought out K-mart

It's not that simple. A wealthy financier, whose name escapes me at the moment, gained control over K-Mart. He then used K-Mart to acquire control over Sears, but it's not like the old stumbling K-Mart had the wherewithal to take over Sears. K-Mart was merely this guy's vehicle.

Does that make sense?

Circuit City filed for chapter 11 this morning. I'm afraid that a lot of companies are going to disappear in the next couple of years.

I heard that too, waaaaay back when I was in high school (circa 1982).

That filing was to force creditors to continue supplying them with product. HP has the largest claim at $118+ million, Samsung next. My local newspaper (The Roanoke Times) has an article about the filing, but it's not on their web page at this time. It states that CC has secured a $1.1 billion line of credit, combined with their current $1.3 billion line. A financial analyst, company name escapes me, states that the company had held on to bad leases, many from the 80's, for too long, and the majority of closings were affecting those stores. I rarely shop at Circuit City, simply because the only store close to me is not conveniently located. Best Buy has 2 stores that are much better locations. I have found that CC generally has had better pricing on computers and computer accessories.

I heard on the news yesterday that holiday gift card sales are way down and not expected to get any better. Too many people are scared they won't be honored or the store may not exist in the near future.
