We did that; 17 family members for a great dinner with enough food for 35 or 40. And I did get a couple of things I wanted, like a pneumatic brad nailer/stapler and a particular kind of blender/juicer, as well as several other nice things. We had a great time and hope you and everyone else did, too.

No Tractor toys...but the ol' 790 is setting out just off the drive so I could give it a gander now n' then...

Just my wife and I..my stepdaughter sent me some fine cigars! Smoked one with a tumbler of Cutty Sark at 4:30 AM.

It was a nice Christmas...one of the better of the last couple years. I must admit, I wish it snowed though!

I do have a plot of winter rye that will hopefully be converted to rye flour next fall. Scythe, flail and hand grinder. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sort of.

Got a set of GMRS radio's from Ms. Claus, you know, one for in the house and one in the tractor, in the shop, in the barn....wherever I am so she can keep me apprised of important things like when it's time to eat dinner.

It would have been nice is Santa came and took my payment book on the M9 back to the North Pole so I didn't have it anymore....but that didn't happen. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

My wife gave me a gift certificate to buy lights for my tractor.
I've picked them out but haven't picked them up yet.
That was more than I expected as I didn't ask for anything.

Spent a couple hours at my brothers for supper .
2 of his kids and their families were there. A great time was had by all.

The greatest blessing I got - given in the true spirit of CHRISTMAS.
Saturday evening my wife went to town and her truck quit on her.
She couldn't get me at home so she called my brother and he brought her home.
We went to look at the truck and I found the alternator belt had broken wrapped itself around the motor pulley tying itself into a knot which threw off the fan belt.
The only belt left was the A/C belt. Here I was with no fan or alternator meaning a 40 or 50 dollar tow bill to get it to a repair garage plus another 40 or 50 bucks to a mechanic to install new belts.
We left her truck and drove over to a garage I knew of.
When I told the guy my problem he said if I would get the belts he would gather up some tools and go to the truck and put the belts on it there so as to save me A tow bill.
Just try getting a mechanic to make a house call. They don't like to do that because like he said 9 times out of 10 you get to the vehicle and discover you didn't bring every thing you needed no matter how many tools you brought.
Guess what the first thing he needed when we got to the truck was a wrench he didn't bring.
We were just getting back into his van to go back to his shop to get the wrench when the guy living in the house across the street from where my truck was parked asked if we need any tools.
We told hem we were just headed back to the mechanics garage to get a wrench. The guy said I have it and any other tools you might need. HE said just pull your truck around back so I did and he had the garage door open motioning me to pull right into his garage,
The mechanic and this guy both worked installing the belts.
When the job was finished the mechanic thanked the guy and I asked him what I owed him.
He said nothing. I was just trying to help out.
When we went back to the mechanics garage and he was putting his tools back I asked him what do I owe you he said you don't owe me a thing.
To me this is a Christmas story I'll never forget.

No tractor toys... just underwear and socks! But that's what I asked for... silk long underwear and wool socks for ice fishing!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Best part was spending the day with family and friends and eating lots of good food. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

My wife got me a new oil can, which I can make great use of, but the neatest part:

She listenened to me! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif somehow the whole commercial thing seems to have gotten way out of hand in my mind, so I told anyone who asked, that if they must get me something:
1. something practicle
2. I'd much rather have a small high quality item than some fancy piece of junk to break in a few months.
3. I live in the USA and happen to prefer things made here.

Trying to be tactful, I may not have been blunt enough on 2. or 3. Wife was the only one 3 for 3; gotta to love her! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

edit: I got socks too, wieghted down with oversize craftsman wrenchs [either quite welcome; no complaints on both]! But then my mother had to spoil it also thinking I needed this POS teflon-coated electric wok: 3 strikes, 4 if you consider she already got me something! I smiled and said "thank you, well thought, but since we use cast iron for wok cooking [the truth] we'll need to exchange it."
