Choosing just one grease..

Decided to try it as well. Less than $5/tube delivered on Amazon. Got three tubes to go with my new grease gun

I’m very good a greasing intervals. I only had one unusual failure. The PTO driveshaft u-joint on my CX 15 brush mower started off with a whiff of gray smoke and by the time I shut the pto off, it was fried and the yoke was toast, too. I greased it regularly. Still don’t know why/what happened. Other than that the Lucas green is pretty much all I use for 10 years and I have a lot of grease joints to manage.

I actually picked up the Lucas green when I was out as I couldn't wait on the Amsoil, plus I need to put together a shopping list if I order from them. Not exactly cheap at $10 a pop around here though.

If you have not used it, I'd return it. Get literally anything else. Lucas red and tacky, Mystik JT-6, Gladus S2 (on sale for a whopping $3.24 at TSC). Reason is lucas green is polyrurea based, and is not compatible with pretty much any other grease. You can use the other ones and just switch to Amsoil whenever, no issues with compatibility (although I like to pump out the old grease for good measure when switching).

I wonder why your price was so high? Do you have a WalMart?

Wow that chart is quite a find. Is it as simple as that? I have always wondered about the compatibility of red and tacky by lucas and lucas marine, sounds like there should be no issues.

Complicated charts and grafs dont do it for me, I like seeing real test where the rubber meets the road......... Is Cheap Grease better than Lucas Red N Tacky? Let's find out! Bearing Grease Test Episode 1 - YouTube

This is just a real world example that shows the old "grease is grease" adage is wrong. BTW Lucas Red and Tacky is just OK. Better than 1$ a tube grease, but there are better choices/better values even if you would rather use ordinary grease and grease often. At least here in Canada it is overpriced for what it is.

Grease related:

While greasing my CUT the phone rang.
As U can imagine my hands were a mess so I looked for a quick solution.
Closest thing at hand was WD40, gave it a try.
Simple squirt on each hand and what a surprise.
Wiped with blue paper shop towel and clean down to the pores.

Now my 'go to' hand cleaner!

I went through this a few years ago. After much reading on here and larger construction and farming sites, I settled on the newer multipurpose Polyurea grease that is shear stable for my 'just one grease' solution. It's the most compatible grease listed on the chart above, and has been proven in use by many who depend on equipment for a living. Both JD and Kubota sell it so it's easy to find. In fact, you'll find quite a few comments that JD and Kubota dealers now sell more of this than all other greases combined. I wasn't thrilled with the blue color of the Kubota grease, but now that I've used it I like how easy it is to see.

I do not understand your post. My data shows the Lucas green tube X-tra HD grease meets the shear stable criteria and should be compatible with almost any other grease. Am I incorrect?

Thanks,
