Hi Folks!

Thanks for all the recent help and kind feedback on removal of stuck connecting rod screw. Now the same engine has a choke return spring that connects from the choke shaft to? This engine was given to me and the spring was in a box with many other parts. I can see where one end hooks to a small hole at the end of the shaft but don't know where the other end goes. Can't find it in my Briggs service manual. I'm sending along a pic of it hooked to the shaft. Briggs part number is 690354 and engine model is 12F802 1173 01. If someone could send me a pic of it connected, that would be great. Any help appreciated! Engine has been completely rebuilt now except for this snag in the ointment!

I think that a little larger view might help.

Hi Richard,

Thanks very much for your reply. Here are two more pics that are further away from the springs location. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

I believe the other end of that spring would connect to the throttle linkage moved by the throttle cable. It should be trying to pull the throttle butterfly open while governor rod would push it closed.

Isn’t that black arm the choke?

Looks like this video may have the same linkage and spring setup as your engine

around the 4 minute mark has a good top view of the springs and linkages
