I'm glad (well maybe not) to hear it is not just me. Some days I spent 12 hours or more moving snow in a JD 644 articulater similar to this one. I always spent my breaks walking around inside to get loosened up.

After posting to ask if I mow slow, I was informed that I can mow as fast or as slow as I want. This past weekend I mowed in a gear slower and what a difference. Took 30 min longer, but nicer cut and not hardly sore at all. I notice I am more limber after 2 hours, but if I go much past 6 with out a break I am sore-ish. My co-workers always wonder why I come in tan, sore and tired on Monday, I think I always have the better weekend :)

From growing upon a large mixed farm,I doubt it's seat time that buggers up their backs, it's more likely a result of all the other heavy grunt work that has to get done.

Uh...My back hurts after using the tractor for a few hours, and I go to a chiropractor...:confused3:

Retired from Boeing 2 years ago. The desk job was really hard on my back.

A friend of mine (a mechanic) has said the same thing. His back bothers him sometimes and he says a bit of seat time does wonders for it!

Some good old rock n' roll dancing does a pretty good job of unkinking the back too. Not on the tractor though.

Tractor time is my psychologist. Had 6 hours on the tractor Saturday with the I Tunes and really enjoy it. My mid back is a different story.

As a crackyourbacktor (that's a new one ) prolonged sitting is awful for the back. Bar none, worst backs are truck drivers followed by salesman who travel and farmers.

A gunbelt and a vest on a 6'2" guy crammed into a crown vic is no picnic for 8-10 hours a day either! Suited up with boots etc I weigh 227. In a birthday suit, 210! What a relief it is to get onto jeans and a T-shirt and get some seat time. Definitely theraputic for me!

Yes - that's what made the difference for me. As long as the ride is rolling and not jarring I can stay in the seat all day. Once it gets choppy my time in the saddle is limited. If I work at a hurried pace I wind up all achey for the next 2 days. My co-workers think I'm nuts because I "work in dirt" all weekend and don't even get paid. Little do they know ...
