how do you get rid of them? I am thinking of drilling a 1" holeabout 6"deep in them and pouring stump rot in the hole. I hope this will kill the tree and then let them rot in place. I have hunreds of these trash trees to get rid of. Think this may work?

I'd try Tordon! Don't know the size of your trees, but if they are very big, cut a saw curf around the tree (just through the bark) & squirt the Tordon into it. I use this on Honey Locust trees, works well. ~~ grnspot110

when i bought my house there were 16 tallow trees on my lot (1.5 acre's)
i immediately cut them down and had the stumps ground up. well after a couple months i started seeing small trees popping up all over, especially along the fence and around the foundation of my shed. Talked to some of my neighbors and they told me to spray 2-4-d on the smaller trees for two weeks and them cut them. Was told they will grow form the roots that were left behind. Took a couple years but i did get rid of them. The people who lived here before me transplanted them because they grew fast and provided shade on the house.

They are hard to kill and just cutting them down and grinding the stumps will not kill them. They keep springing up from the root system.
The way I do it that works for me is I cut the tree down. Some time later the stump will start growing and produce a few sprouts coming up. I wait till they are about 5 feet tall and have plenty of leaves (they can grow this much in 4 weeks) and then on a hot sunny day I spray them with a generic Roundup.
I may have to repeat this process a couple of more times before the roots are dead. After it stops sprouting the roots are dead, then I grind the stump.
