Ive been trying to get Grandpa’s tractor… the one I learned on but my cousin has the same memories…

I’m willing to pay far more than it’s worth because it’s the one..,

Sentimental Value is WAY MORE than scrap value ... even if it only becomes decorative yard art

Get it. Absolutely.

Run it or Restore it.

I posted something awhile ago re the Jacobsen Garden Tractor that I acquired last year ... purely sentimental, and though it is not the actual tractor, it is the tractor model. This photo with my late dad is from 56 yrs ago.

Get it, once it's gone, it's gone. Flywheel ring gear is cheap. $82.00 through Case/IH, aftermarket one slightly less. Other than removing the engine, they are easy to replace if you have an acetylene torch. Remove flywheel, heat ring gear, and light taps with a hammer, it drops right off. Lay the new one on the flywheel, heat it up, and tap it on, boom, you're done.

I have a 656 Farmall row crop that is my "big" tractor. I onlyuse it for making hay, to run the MoCo, and round baler. LOVE that tractor..!!

It may not be the tractor that you remember as he said, but it can be again with a little time and money. After my Dad wasn't able to use it, he gave me the 861 Ford that I grew up on. It still going after all of these years. It is a little reminder of a good childhood.

Just to update this thread, no I have not gotten the tractor yet. But I did reach out to my friend and told him that I definitely want that tractor! He said "no problem, its yours." Then we decided to list our home for sale, and have been working on that ever since. We found a new place, one with a large shop that I can use to work on this tractor (and other projects of course), but we havent purchased it yet pending the sale of our house... which is stagnant.

I can only do so much, and this tractor is not going anywhere. I'll get it, and I'll fix it, and I'll probably make videos of it on my YT channel, but until then, its just sitting there.

Are you staying in the Spokane area?

The reason I ask is WA has been very much a destination state but maybe the market is returning to a more normal where things slow down once school starts…
