Anyone plant any chicory?

I planted some chicory about 3 or 4 years ago and its a good a stand as its ever been. Deer seem to like it.

It just keeps coming back so I'll keep it.

What are the nutrient requirements?

It's a very common wild plant in this area. Grows on the shoulders of the roads, has a blue flower.

On one of our farms, it comes in naturally, so it never needs planting. On the other, we planted about 3 acres of chickory, along with white and red clovers. Deer eat chickory to a degree, but, the turkeys seem to really enjoy it, when other plants have been frosted. We harvest the first cut hay in late July, letting the second grow for the wildlife. It is prime protein right now. We top dress it with a good nitrogen free fert. in the spring, seeing that clover is growing with it.
