Not the typical waffles and regular fried chicken...have no idea where that came from...

I chicken and waffles I grew up eating is something different...very easy and simple...it's usually made with left over chicken.

Debone and roughly chop the chicken...in pot boil the chicken with enough water for the amount of chicken (will be thickened later)
ad a stalk of celery and whatever seasonings...boil long enough to make a flavorful broth...then remove the celery and thicken (flour or cornstarch etc.) to a nice light gravy...

Spoon over regular waffles...the flavors complement each other for a really tasty entree...

Also like smoked sausage and gravy over hotcakes...!

My wife is a big fan. That is fried chicken tenders, waffles and lots of syrup. Your version sounds better to me.

WTH Sounds like a southern thing.

Was thinking the same thing. I'll pass, thanks. Sounds like one of those southern dishes like okra or biscuits & gravy that doesn't translate well to other parts of the country.

I'm sure we have things in New England that people elsewhere find unappetizing.

Actually sounds very close to the chicken and dumplings that I grew up with, except using the waffles instead of the dumplings. But waffles and dumplings use similar ingredients.

Yes a common comparison of basic ingredients and tastes...When discussing chicken and dumplings though there are basically two different types of dumplings...The flat doughy type (more common in the south) and the fluffy, puffy type cooked on top of the stew...I prefer the fluffy ones (easily made with Bisquick and a little milk)...

I too like the fluffy dumplings and plain old chicken and noodles...FWIW...the Reames frozen noodles are pretty darn close to good home made.

Never done chicken on waffles, looks good to me. Add a little pure maple syrup and or ham gravy. Sliced diced pickled pickled jalapeno sprinkled on top.

My mom's chicken and dumplings were more like spaetzle, so i guess that would be of the doughy type.
