Saw this truck and trailer while sitting at a light and thought it would be fun to see how many would do the same and how many think its not safe.
Sorry the photo is so bad but i used my phone. And for those who don't see it Im talking about the suv pulling the single axle trailer with the tractor who's fel is up in the air over suv.
Im in the not safe boat.

I'd definatly vote for a bigger trailer! Seems that could get hard on the SUV rear suspension

your phone pics are way nicer than mine...thanks for sharing

That's just plain stupid. I wonder what would happen on a longer trip when the loader slowly starts to lower. I highly doubt that trailer is rated anywhere near the tractors weight as well. :confused2:

Nice Challenger too!

Yup looks pretty hokey, probably overloaded and definitely way to much weight on the tongue, that looks like the weak link in that package. Tires, axles even the suv may hold up but I could see the front of that trailer breaking.

I think the loader is supposd to be chained/strapped to be legal.

JB.

now Im not a dodge fan but your right about that one. Its owned by a local cop and he has all sorts of mods done to it from wheels to the engine. And you gota love the color.

One of my tractor's FELs slowly leaks down. If I made more than a short trip that way I would have trouble.

OK, its not THAT bad.. so hes' got the reasr suspension overloaded... And, well, hes' got the trailer hitch completely overloaded, Lets see, and MAYBE he has the bucket up in the wind with no support, oh, and, he MAY have the little trailer axle and tires SLIGHTLY overloaded. Come on guys give him a brake, he DID put the rear ramp/gate up...

Well that's true

Come on, cut the guy some slack as the brakes on the tow vehicle are shot and he's using the bucket as an air brake like airplanes have. :D

Hmm-- trailer looks pretty level. I do see some sort of strapping in front so I assume there is something in rear. He does look tongue heavy but it is better to be tongue heavy then trailer rear heavy. Does it look like he has 3500lb trailer rating? I'd say he is a bit over loaded.

Just curious. There appears to be a 3ph attachment on the tractor, at least to my old eyes. If so, any idea as to what it is?

yes he had a tiller on the back. I think it was a 4 ft one.
I work in the same direction he was going and when i cought up to him. . .He was only going 40 in a 65 i saw the tiller. Didn't take a pic then because i was driving and that would be a no no

What a idiot. All it would take is driving though a big dip to dent the top of the SUV with the loader. Plus its top heavy like that, easy to roll. Overloaded part is pretty obvious.

If that Challenger is a cop he is slacking. The F-150 in front of him is pulling a trailer with no working break lights. He should be on his cell calling in a on duty officer to take care of both these truckers!

good eye Chris. I didn't see that. That is not a police car but a police officers personal car. And while i agree he could call in the guy they never do. Im not knocking our local police, they actually do a really great job and are very fair. Usually a trailer like that would be pulled over by a state trooper and not a local cop.

Chris,

I'm guessing trailer lighting laws vary across states.

I don't know where the photo was taken, but the F-150 guy would be legal in NC (I think).

On every trailer, semi trailer or pole trailer weighing 4,000 pounds
gross or less:
(a) On the rear, two (2) reflectors, one (1) on each side. If any
trailer or semi trailer is so loaded or is of such dimensions as
to obscure the stop light on the towing vehicle, then such
vehicle shall also be equipped with one (1) stop light.

Steve

Edit. I just caught the fact that the law doesn't say anything about whether the trailer's stop light has to work.:)
