.....go to ebaymotors.com and find listings for Honda Insight. There are only 4, mine is the beautiful red one (2005). The last two of my photos show my highly polished Mahindra 2415! Hopefully LOTS of people will see this great tractor. Sometimes I hesitate to use the tractor, especially right after I've cleaned, waxed, and detailed it.....

Or you could just click this link for the picture. It is not a link to ebay, just to a photo hosted by ebay. Nice looking tractor you got there.

You sure could make things easier by providing the direct link rather than requiring everyone interested to go search for your listing.

Which is what I did, so just click the link in my previous post.

Can a Ford Ranger get 41mpg? The one I had for years only got at best 24-28 mpg???

I concur, Perdido. The Ranger I had would only get 24mpg on a good day....and that was with the 2.3L 4-banger, stick shift, and me driving like an old grandmother.

I also wouldn't use that 28mpg figure for planning any long cross-country flights in the C-150....unless you like your flights to end with long quiet glides to unplanned destinations. Best mpg figure I could calculate from the '76 150M operating handbook was 735NM (845SM) for 26.1mpg at 8000 ft. with 35 gallons useable (long range tanks) minus 2.6 gal VFR reserve; and that was for cruise at 45% power. More realistic is 22.2mpg at 65% power. Of course the manual takes startup, taxi, takeoff and climb fuel consumption into account.

Gallons Per Hour consumption rates along with prevailing winds aloft are much better for determining endurance and range than mpg. The mpg figures assume zero wind....not realistic.
/CFI mode

I know: picky, picky.....this happens when you get me started.

Bill6 is a hypermiler. I admire his passion for his hobby, but have to admit he is one of those that I impatiently want to pass as soon as it's safe. I guess I should ask him this question... is hypermiling considered a hobby or a lifestyle? From what little I know it seems more like the latter...:)

I included a link to the definition if hypermiler for those unfamiliar with the term.

Hi Bob & Jeremy; For me, hypermiling is a hobby that can become part of a lifestyle of efficiency awareness. I've been at it for 26 yrs, starting with my 1980 Rabbit diesel, with extra fuel tank. Later I bought a new 1987 Honda CRX HF, and drove it 502,000 highway miles then sold it, still in great condition. Now I've owned 3 Insights. I teach seminars and forums on the topic of "high gas mileage"; preparing your vehicle and preparing your mind.

In the 2006 Ford Ranger I have 5-speed, 4 cylinder, long bed (20.4 gals of fuel) and a Tonneau cover. This gives me a range of over 800 miles. The key is to 1) inflate tires to maximum (at least 44 lbs) 2) slow down a little 3) drive in a manner trying NOT to use the brakes 4) I use a Scangauge, that plugs into the OBDII port, and closely monitors & displays engine temps, functions, fuel economy, trip statistics. 5) read and use the tips found at CleanMPG, An authoritative source on fuel economy and hypermiling

In aviation ( I used to fly full time) I learned alot about efficiency back in the 1980's. I participated in air races (Oshkosh 500) in Wisconsin, and efficiency events (CAFE 400) in Santa Rosa, CA. Although the Cessna 150 is not a "clean" airplane by any stretch, my gap seals, boots, wheel pants, cruise prop, etc help it a great deal. I even use synthetic motor oil to reduce friction.

Anyway, I rather get a kick out of all the posts on this site in the "trucks & trailers" category, where guys are describing their rigs. It's amazing to me, how so many seem resigned to using their 3/4 and 1 ton gas-hog trucks, to pull around their loads. DETROIT has sentenced us to many years of extremely wasteful fuel use. The technology is there; they refuse to put it to use. Our rat-race society is to blame also. Most of us MUST have hundreds of horsepower, to be able to "race around" when desired.

Gee, if there was enough interest, and a central geographical location, I would enjoy putting on a seminar for the entire Tractorbynet family, entitled "achieve 20% higher fuel economy in whatever you drive". Or maybe I could begin a series of threads in the appropriate category.......

Myth Busters did a show on the tonneau covers and said it didn't increase fuel mileage, that an open box atually had the best fuel mileage. I'm not saying this is fact, just saying what I saw on TV (so it must be true right, like reading on the internet - it's all true. :) ) I got a small boost in my F150 by adding a bed cover, at least I think I did. But maybe when I'm watching my mileage I drive better too.

I doubt I could make it to the seminar (would eat up the savings I'd get on fuel mileage) but I'd sure be interested in a thread. If you want a place to start, I have an F150 Supercrew 4X4. :D

And you care about what I drive....why? I'll bet your cute little Prius would work real fine with my Bigfoot camper on the roof, or pulling my trailer with the John Deere on it....

Please...you can hypermile all you want...but, I still get to make the choices I want in my life too...without you preaching to me.
