Has anyone bought the cheap injectors and had good luck with them? I am really tempted to try them but not sure if I want to risk engine damage if they are junk. This is for a Shibuara / perkins engine. Some are less than $40 for a set of 3 on ebay.

Ive notice that the owners of new Chinese tractors on youtube tend to replace their injectors a bunch for the low hours on the machines. Just saying.

I thought I would give a set a try. I picked a middle of the range set that said they were better quality. I am guessing they are all the same but who knows. Anyway, I installed them and the engine knocks and smokes like crazy. 2 of the bubble out a lot when I loosen the injector line which I think means they are stuck open and letting compression backwards through them. I can't believe they even sell something like that.

Good grief. Don’t buy cheap Chinese crap.

You pay thousands for the engine then Destroy it trying to save Pennie’s.

If you still have the original injectors, consider taking them to a diesel injection service shop and get a quote on rebuild. May be cheaper than the purchase of new OEM injectors. Probably still expensive but sometimes you just have to pay the ransom.

I called a place and they said $225 to rebuild. That is why I gave the 3 for $65 new ones a try.

FWIW, when I replaced the injectors in my 2002 Duramax I bought OEM, $5,000 for 8. I found cheaper but as I said above__.

I bought a $108 chinese set from eBay vendor about a year ago for my 86 Ford 1310 just to see if they are any good.
The engine ran, but had a terrible knock on one cylinder and I got a full refund.
Waste of time...

Oh well. now I know why they were so cheap!

I had the original injectors rebuilt at a local Diesel shop and all is well.

I ordered a cheap pop tester to test them. The gauge doesn't move on any of them and I am not sure if the gauge is defective or all the injectors are that bad. Here is why it ran so bad.

I am not sure that I was using the tester right. I need to find the manual and make another video.

The inj that’s pictured avg. $65.00 each + 4.00 for the inlet and return gskts.

To operate the pop tester,
Put enough fluid(fuel) above the filter..
Screw the knob IN until it stops..
Operate the handle slowly until u feel resistance.. then push down on the handle rapidly about 5x.. that will clear any air that’s trapped in the line.. now do it again while watching the spray pattern.. should be a nice cone shaped spray..with no streams of fuel..
Next, push down slowly on the handle.. u should get a nice pop, pop, pop..
That means the pintle (center of nozzle) is seating properly..
Next, open the knob a turn or 2..and slowly push down on the handle & check the opening press.. it’ll pop open when it reaches the o.p.
Once u determine the opening press. & compare it to the inj. specification..
Raise the pressure on the gauge to 200psi BELOW the o.p. to look for any droplets of fuel..(for 5-10 seconds) THATS your leak-down test..

DO NOT GET ANY BODY PARTS NEAR THE SPRAY.!!!
IT WILL PENETRATE YOUR SKIN.!!! & YOU’LL GET BLOOD POISONING..
THIS IS NOT A TOY..

I Thought 2 of the original injectors were still good but they don't pop correctly. They do pop at 1800psi but spray till the pressure drops quite a bit or just keep spraying if holding more pressure on the lever. 2 of the Chinese injectors pop correctly but not till about 2400 psi. The 3rd is about 2600 psi and just dribbles fuel out when it hits that pressure unless more force is applied to the lever, then it sprays kind like the original (bad) injectors.
The spray pattern of the Chinese injectors seems to be much less fanned out than the original ones but I am not sure if that is because those are bad.
What happens if injectors with that mush higher pressure setting are used?

hey, this isn't really relevant, but I don't know how to direct message you and I have a ym 146 and I was wondering if you know how to turn the fuel pump up. many people have mentioned you.

The cost of rebuilding them locally was $150 for three injectors, but I could have ordered rebuilt injectors from dealer for about the same price + shipping.

I figured it was good to support local business owner who does lot of business with truckers and other commercial operators.
