IH 460 Utility
I have a IH 460 Gas utility tractor, it wasn't keeping the battery charged I polarized the generator and it started charging but every time I shut it off I have to polarize the generator. I've checked the wiring diagram and it is wired up right. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Could quite possibly be the voltage regulator. They don't seem to last as long as they used to. Whether it's a $75 Echlin from NAPA, or an aftermarket cheapie, they seem to only last a couple of years.

I have in the last few years gotten some decent one's from my starter/gen. shop guy, that are still working after 4-5 years. But, they come in a box with no part numbers on the box, or VR, so don't know who makes them.

If someone could make a solid state one, they'd become instant millionaire's over night, once the word got out.

Is there any particular reason why you don't put an alternator on it?

There's no reason i was just trying to get it to charge and keep it original but i may have to change it over
