I was reviewing my operators manual and surprised to see that the transmission oil is to be changed every 200 hours - is this correct? I have the PowrReverser transmission. The manual lists Type F automatic transmission fluid as being acceptable. Anybody running Type F? I'll probably end up using Tractor Supply Universal Tractor Fluid (which indicates that it meets the JDM J20D).

You could put in a synthetic and get an oil analysis done. You dont want an oil that only meets the specs, but also exceeds the specs.

How much is JD oil?

Id trust about any name brand. As for the JD fluid, i a sure it is adequate but I prefer to stay away from OEM lubrication products when possible.

I have a JD 4700 with the power reverser. I changed the filter at 300 hours and fluid and filter at 600 hours. At 600 hours the fluid looked and smelled just fine. I used premium UTF from NAPA made by Valvoline. I did not have an analysis done but I would wager there was still a lot of life left in that fluid.
