Anyone here done there own oil change on a newer model DX/TC33. Tried to do the 100 hour service myself on a 2005 DX33 to save some $$ but cant seem to get the oil filter removed. It sits back behind the FEL subframe & hydrolic lines. A regular filter wrench wont fit & I tried a 1/2" drive strap wrench but I can hear it crushing the filter and its still not budging. Anyone with any pointers on what type of wrench you used to get to it. I feel kinda stupid that I cant even remove an oil filter.

Just got it. Finally. I was able to get just enough angle to clear the line hanging me up and make a couple of small turns.

Now one more question. The dealer gave me the wrong size replacement filter. He's located about 40 minutes drive but I have a NH dealer about 5 minutes away. I'm assuming the filter for my DX33 would be the same as the TC33. Is this correct? Thanks all.

The TC33 and the DX are the same animal. I think you can get the replacement filter at your local auto parts store. There is not a problem using a wix oil filter but use the OEM hydraulic filter.....trust me, I found out the hard way!

If you got a filter that is much smaller in diameter than the original, don't be too quick to think it is the wrong filter. Check that the gasket diameter is the same. If so, you probably have the correct filter. The replacement filters got smaller recently and many of us did a double-take when we saw them.

Jim,

Thanks for the info. Yes, the gasket diameter was the same and the filter fit fine. I would have never guessed. The new filter was about 30-40% smaller. Thanks for saving me a trip.

Call Messick Equipment and Outdoor Power - New Holland - Kubota - Case IH - Parts, Sales & Service. If you want, they can answer your question and ship you a new filter that fits (if needed).

I got a different filter wrench at Autozone that fits in there pretty nicely. They have several different types available, so look 'em over and pick the one that looks like it'll work for you. It's been a while, but I think it was around $5, which I thought was worth the price just in saved aggravation.
