I sure thought that was the case Jon, but after fully draining my main plug, I still got a great deal more out of the two on the side cases separately.

On your tractor you will. You have the brake cases that hold fluid too, these cases have a special drain plug only found on the 40 and below tractors. In the DK45 thru 65 this is not the case as it is a straight axle in rear, and they have no brake cases to hold fluid or drains for them.

That's good to know. Since I've never had to change any of those models, it never occurred to me that they were that different than mine. Thanks for the info.

I just performed the 50 hr service on my CK30hst. When changing the Hydro fluid there are a couple tricks involved. Using compressed air to clean the magnetic drain plug is definately the only way to go, trying to get the metalic shavings off the plug any other way just does not work. When I got ready to drain the Trans/Hydro fluid I raised the loader to the full upright position with the bucket curled fully back. This forced the fluid out of the cylinder's "down position". I then removed the three drain plugs. After the fluid appeared to be fully drained I slowly began to lower the loader. This caused the cylinders to retract and forced the fluid out of the cylinder's "up position". I could see more fulid being expelled into the drain pan. About half way down I stopped and had my wife hold the loader control valve into the "dump" position and as the bucket curled down more fluid was expelled into the drain pan. I manually pushed the bucket into the fully curled position and even more fluid came out. I then lowered the loader the rest of the way and put a block under the front of the bucket to curl it back up so that the loader could come all the way down and surprise! even more fluid was expelled. When I refilled the system it took 7.5 gallons, just under the 7.9 called for in the specs. After running the tractor for a couple days now the fluid is slightly down on the dipstick and it could take a little more. I think I was able to get the max amount of the old fluid out without removing any hoses. I was surprised at the amount of metalic shavings on the drain plug and would recommend the fluid change at the 50hr. mark to remove those contamininants after the break in period.
