I've got an old Shawnee loader on my Ford NAA. I have been slowly getting it into shape (see the thread in the vintage ford section). I blew a hose during the first hour of operation and have decided to replace all the other lines that either look bad, have obvious wear to metal, or are completely hard. So that means 8 lines all together. Almost all the lines on it are 3/8 NPT fittings, except for the main pump to valve line which is 1/2 inch and a couple that are 3/8 JIC.
2 of the lines are 3/8 fittings but 1/2 inch hose. What is interesting is that they don't occupy the relative same position on the tractor. One goes to the the "top" of the left main lifting cylinder the other goes to the "bottom" of the right lift cylinder, from different points on the valve. I have been looking at hoses from surplus center and it appears that I can't replicate the 2 hoses exactly. So I decided to put 3/8 inch hoses on it. Can anyone tell me if this is obviously the wrong call. The hoses are all mismatched and I suspect that what got used in the past was whatever was available.
