How often should the motor oil be changed in a 3 cyl yanmar diesel tractor.?? I use the tractor about 25 hours a year. Every year or would hour time count. Also diesel fuel left in tractor ok?? My tractor is enclosed and I keep the tank always full so moisture is not a problem.

thank you

IMHO and others would agree - Change it at least yearly or every 100 hrs, whichever comes first.. I am going to change mine each spring but others say to change it in the fall - not sure who is right or wrong..

I change oil and filter once a year on my New Holland TN 70A. Only run 150-200 hours a year.

I always do it mine in the late Fall since I use mine for snow removal in the Winter and want fresh clean oil for the toughest season.

I use Rotella synthetic.

I agree with the yearly or every 1-200 hours.

Very light use is harder than running the snot out of them on a 100 degree day. Hard to understand, but true. Just running 25 hours a year, you probably rarely ever get the engine up to full operating temperatures and never run it long enough to burn out the water and extra fuel that gets into the oil from the combustion process.

I agree also. Always follow manufactures specs but used as little as you do I would also go the once a year route. That is what I do with things like my lawn mower and boat. Simply set up a maintenance schedule. I do things like this in the fall prior to putting them away for the winter.

.

You always want clean oil in an IC engine before you put it in storage for the off season.

.

Agreed. I also figure, when Spring arrives, some nice runs at higher temperatures burn off the water that short Winter runs produce.

I change mine yearly. Was putting about 100 hours/yr on it. This year shows only about 40. I'll go ahead and change the oil this fall; have the filter bought for it. Will go through and shoot some grease in all the fittings, too.

Plan to switch to the new 0w30 Mobil 1. Have it in the pickup and 2 cars now. Next are tractor, generator and lawn mower.
