Mahindra Max
I have Mahindra max that has a couple of leaking couplings on the FEL valve. Probably my own fault because I put the FEL on and off probably once a week during the summer and when I go to reconnect it two of the female side of the couplings (hose end) need to be depressurized and I usually do this by putting a flat punch in and tapping with a hammer. I知 going to replace the coupling and was wondering if there痴 a type of coupling that can be reconnected with residual pressure on it. And if so where is a good place to get them. From what i致e looked at so far the existing fitting size seems to be uncommon. They are Faster NV14-38-SAE. Both sides have 9/16 -18 UNF female ORB. The valve body where the male end is connected also has 9/16 female there痴 a straight adapter between the valve and the coupling.
Thanks in advance

That's an ISO 7241A 3/8 ag coupler, poppet valve style. They are pretty common. Many companies make them. You probably damaged the seals with the punch.

I have tried connect-under-pressure ag couplers and found the force needed to connect them to be much more than with regular ag couplers. To the point that if they are not solidly mounted on bulkheads, they're nearly unuseable. So instead I made up pressure release gadgets consisting of two couplers on a tee with a valve. You plug the gadget in to the attachment's hoses when removing the attachment. I have not had a chance to try them yet but other people here have made the same thing, and they're only likely to fail in execution not in concept. My backhoe and grapple are set up with one male and one female connector so the gadget goes in line. If your loader QCs are all females you'd want two males, or vice versa. And you'd need two gadgets (or one big one with four quick connects) to handle both lift and curl circuits.

Another thing you can do is to swap male for female so you're releasing pressure on the male connector instead of the more easily damaged female connector. They flow both ways. I think ball type male connectors may be a little more tolerant of being hit than poppet type.

There are also pressure release devices which clamp on to the QC and release the pressure. There are some listed here (scroll down) and also a chart for the quick connects: Hydraulic Tools - BoltOnHooks LLC

Thanks like idea of the tee. Will probably go that way.

And yes I know using the punch damaged the seals

Little update after digging around some more. I too thought it was a 3/8 fitting and the reason I thought it was uncommon is you can't find many 3/8 fittings with 9/16 threads. Managed to get the Faster spec sheets and found out the NV 14-38 SAE is a 1/4" ag fitting with 3/8"SAE threads which are 9/16 -18UNF. That is a pretty common size. But the only Faster NV size that is ISO 7241A is the 1/2 size. So if I wanted to go with something other than faster I'd have to switch both male and female. Turned out to be a none issue found correct Faster on Amazon for $25 ea. Little steep.
