Change clock, change batteries

It's that time of year again.

When you change your clocks tomorrow night, it's a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detector, and test it to ensure it works. Check the manual, some may need dusting or other periodic maintenance. Your local fire department may offer assistance too.

Although the batteries may be ok, it's still good to replace them. Nothing worse than the battery dying in a few months when you really need it.

ALSO if that smoke detector is 10 years old, time to get a new one. Smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years per the manufacture and NFPA codes. If you are going to replace that smoke detector get one that has both photoelectric and ionization detection devises in one detector for the both types of fires, flaming and slow smokey that can occur in your home.
