Challenger mt 275 or MF 1440????

When checking the hydraulic oil level does the tractor need to be running or stopped on the Challenger mt 275 or MF 1440??? Its the same tractor that's why i am asking for both. I don't have a service manual to look it up.

Can't say for sure on your particular tractor. However, in every tractor I've ever owned, I always check with engine off and rams collapsed. (IE for example loader fully on the ground if you have one) generally speaking, I liked to check all the fluids before I ever start the tractor up for the day. That includes engine oil, engine coolant, fuel supply, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid if it is seperate from the hydraulic fluid, and so on and so forth. Lot less chance of running low on something and ruining an engine or transmission.

I have the MT285b, I check with the hydraulics in, power off, and like to see over half up the sight glass on the rear end.
