I have cut stuff that has been in the water and like everyone else said the saw chain is a very good water slinger. If you are worried about getting bar and cahin oil in the water for your in the water cuts use vegetable oil instead.

Randy

You can even buy biodegradable bar oil but I bet it will be hard to find. I like the veggie oil idea because at least you'll have some lube!

When you are done, I would drain what is left out and run some regular bar oil through the saw. I can really gum things up over time if left in there.

Mission accomplished. My wife and I went down there today and completed the job. Talk about rooster tailing! Wow. Awesome!

I took everyone's advice, took my wife as a safety observer in case I whacked my leg or was drug under. The water is high right now, we've had a lot of rain. I intentionally did it now instead of later, because the current/depth combo took my logs away and saved me the hassle of dragging them out after cutting. I had a rope tied around my waist tied off to the Mule (Kawasaki type) in case something happened, the wife could ease back and pull me out:eek:

It was uneventful though...all went well.

Good for you Podunk;

Glad it was "uneventful", and thanks for this follow-up post.
