Hello all,

I have a husqvarna 445. I am having some issues with the chain. It is binding up and it seems to randomly get either real loose or real tight. All I can figure is the sprocket but I wanted to get some input before I go buying parts.

Thanks,
Chris

We've got a chainsaw forum where more people might help.

Check the screw that adjusts the chain tension. I have one that is bent on my JD CS62 and if I don't get it just right the chain goes from tight to loose real easy.

Is the bar getting enough oil? Should use about a tank of oil to one of fuel. There should be an adjustment for the amount of oil flow somewhere under the bar mount (I'm not familiar with this particular model). Another way to test for adequate oil flow is to hold the saw with the bar pointing at but not touching a clean surface. Rev the engine and see if the chain slings off oil onto the surface.

I haven't checked the screw adjustment. It seems like it was working fine but I will look at it. thanks

ohh, yes. The bar is getting plenty of oil. I was almost thinking too much.
