Chain harrow for pasture

I'm looking at the 3pt 6ft from this place. Seems like the nicest designed one I've found. I have blacktop to go over before I get to were it's needed so the three point for me is the way to go. Price is high but it's the one that will work best for me.

Their equipment looks to be of good quality to me. I looked at their 3 pt harrow compared to TSC drag harrow and it looked to me like theirs is priced reasonably for what you get.
One of the reasons I want a 3 pt harrow is so I can pick it up and back it into the shed.
Early in my career I made my living as a welder and I still enjoy making a few things, just not all of the time. It also helps that I can get some really good deals on material left over from jobs at work.

Harrowing requires more management to be successful breaking up the parasite cycle. You need to keep the horses off the field for a good 4 weeks, and that requires pretty good sun to heat things up. You also need to drag across the piles several times to reduce the size and distribute it over a significant area.

I decided to buy a cheap used manure spreader, got one for $350 about 5 years ago. So some of the composting takes place before I spread it, which helps interrupt parasite cycle, then it gets distributed in fine pieces over a large area, which also helps kill any kooties that are left.

There was an article in the Feb. 2011 Equus magazine about parasites that I would recommend reading. My wife will not let me spread compost on the pasture even if it has been through a hot summer of decomposing. This is not a link to the article but to the publication.
