Chain, Chain, and more chain....

I got some 30 or 40 year old 1/4 that has had the **** beat out of it. Havnt managed to break it yet. I use it with the atv mostly to skidd logs out of the timber the tractor cant get to. How ever when i am doing anything heavy i break out the big chain. Its almost has to be 1/2 but a 25 foot length of it you dont want to carry far. I have managed to break one of those pulling stumps out of the ground.

I would much rather use a chain when dealing with shock loads then a cable. At last the chain will just drop. A cable will kill some one. Havnt had the money to play with the syn cable much. Stuff is spose to drop when it breaks just like chain.

boy, then i guess you dont drive, ever use a public road, or go out in public, do ya?

harbor freight grade 70 chain in way more than adequate for anything a compact tractor is going to be able to do. i have also seen many good old used chains at garage sales
