Tractor
Several, all used and abused.
I have a Century 2535 tractor and haven't been paying attention to the rear end. In fact, it's been covered in dirt for a few years now. For grins, I scraped off some of the dirt and noticed a site glass next to the PTO Shaft. I either forgot it was there, or never noticed it before. Even worse, it shows that I'm very low on oil.

I don't have a manuel for the tractor and don't know what oil to use. Is this gear oil or hydraulic oil?

I'm 99% sure that I pour the oil into the fill hole with the orange cap on it that says 'OIL' on it, but there is that 1% of doubt that makes me ask just to make sure.

Thank you,
Eddie

Eddie,

I am 99% sure you need Hydraulic fluid. There are manuals on line somewhere, if you search this forum manuals and century, I would think you'll find a reference. Good Luck,

Jim

Jim,

I was just about to pour hydraulic oil in there, but stoped. I realized that I wasn't sure. There is an axle there too and I don't know if they have seperate areas, or if they all use the same fluid. I never heard of a rear end using hydraulic oil, so that stumped me.

I did a search in the forum for manuels and found some to TYM, but nothing seemed to work. I remember looking up a manuel for my 2535 tractor a year or so ago, but haven't looked for it since. Guess I should have printed it when I saw it, but I thought it would be there forevery. Why would a company take it down?

Anyway, I'm hoping somebody with a 2535 knows this one way or another.

Thanks,
Eddie

Mr Walker, I have a 2003 Branson 3520 and your rear end looks the same as mine. If you look at my post reply to a leak of a plug in the site glass area you will see the photo. Anyway, since it looks the same, and from my understanding the earlier Century and Bronson's were the same but with different names and options that were offered as standard. With that said, your oil level at the site glass is for trans-axle (transmission, axle) and hydraulic fluid. When I changed mine out at the 50 hour interval (I think) the Tractor Supply hydraulic/ gear oil met the tractor specifications. Thats what I would use. I hope this helps you. Eddie you was kind enough to reply to my post "Need help from Century/Branson owners" if you remember so I thought I would repay the favor. Here is the Century Owners Manual for tractors 2028 through 3045, which includes your tractor, in PDF format. I had to upload it in a .zip archive because of its size. Hope this helps.

Jenkins,

Thank you very much for posting the file, but it's not working. I get an Error Message that says "The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted."

I tried to open it and then I tried to download it and open it after it downloaded. Same message.

Thank you for trying, it was very kind of you.

Eddie I just downloaded the file on 3 other computers and it worked fine ( I build computers for a hobby) . I used WinRar to zip the file and I have the latest version of Adobe PDF reader to open the file after it is unzipped. You may need WinRar to unzip the file. The file opened in Vista and XP. I don't have an older computer so I don't know if it will work on an older operating system. If I can be of any help with trying to download this file let me know.

Thanks, I'm going to google WinRar and download it. My computer is a two year old Dell with XP, so that should be ok.

Well I just downloaded it on my 4th computer and now it says it's corrupted. I'll try to figure out what's wrong and post again.

Here is the file again uploaded from the 4th computer. I tested the archive before uploading and it tested good. If this doesn't work I'm going to have to try uploading in a different format or maybe splitting the file. Tractorbynet won't let you upload a file of this size unless it's zipped.
