Century 3035 Shuttle Shift Linkage

Howdy! I recently purchased a new Century 3035 with a c-50 FEL. So far I have 15 hours on it and am very pleased. I have one minor issue with the shuttle shift linkage. It is very difficult to move the lever from forward to reverse. It feels like the linkage is binding. It happens roughly 60-70% of the time. I am lifting up on the lever properly and have taken the steering column cover off and see no obvious signs of binding. Has anyone seen this with their Century?

Try putting some grease on some of the linkage, mostly at the top where the detent position is. Also try spraying some WD-40 at some of the joints on the linkage. After you do that work it back and forth and see if that helps.

Mine was stiff at first also. After about 50 hours, it loosened up and is much smoother now.

Mine was a little stiff at first also...20 hours now and I hardly notice it.

Howdy! Is your cluctch is fully dissengaged. If so, pull the rear cover (one closest to the seat) off of the steering column, it exposes the linkage and the plastic shuttle shift fork. If the linkage is ok, the shuttle fork may be binding on the case. Spray some "slick'umm on it and see if it goes away. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the posts...I lubed all of the joints in the linkage and it is definately improving. Loader work is getting more and more fun!
