A mason friend of mine told me some cement mixers are specific to either mortar or concrete mixing. Some manufacturers produce machines that will do either. Is the Power-Trac cement mixer a dual purpose unit or specific to concrete or mortar. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'm no expert, but a concrete mixer I would think would have to be more rugged than a mortar mixer for the simple fact that mortar is just cement and sand vs. concrete which is cement, sand and gravel.

If the PT attachment is for concrete, then you should be able to do mortar as well. Not sure the opposite is true.

This is all just my opinion -- I'm sure many others know the facts and will chime in.

I have the cement mixer and assume it would be for both - really never gave it a thought.
So far all I have used it for is mixing soil and compost for specialized plantings.
Cement will be mixed and poured next week for deck footings.
