I'm kind of out of date on these things as my only experiece with PTO driven cement mixers is on an old Kubota that a friend had quite a few years ago. His tractor was in the 20hp range and the mixer could handle two sacks of 80lb readi mix.

With his setup, we could never get it to dump all the way. We tried everything we could think of, but it never worked like we wanted it to.

11 cu ft sounds like a very large bucket. Before you buy it, make sure it will fit and that you can dump it all the way. You might also want to make sure you can handle the weight of that much concrete hanging off the back of yoru tractor.

When I decided to buy a cement mixer, I went with an electric one. It will also hold two sacks of 80lb readi mix, or three sacks of mortor.

In my thinking, I decided that this gave me more versability for what I wanted to do. I can easily take it to jobs I'm working on, or use it around the house. I have a small trailer that I put it and my generator on that allows me to tow it to any location on my land too. The trailer is very handy because I can have my water jugs on it too, along with my tools and the sacks of readi mix.

It's an Imer that I bought at Home Depot. I forget the price. There are other brands too, but most of them seemed kind of flimsy with plastic parts that I didn't think would last very long.

Good luck,
Eddie

Do a search for "concrete mixer" in the Attachment section. Tons
of postings.

I bought a used 1/3 yard pto powered mixer a few years ago and had the most fun with it. Its one of those things that you get more out of it than you thought it might produce. I went cement crazy: sidewalks, steps/stairs, horse watering trough pads, and slabs. The mix was basically a bag of cement, 25 shovels of washed gravel, and 5 gallons of water. Mix for 10 minutes add a bit more water depending on outside temperature and dump into the forms. Couple of things, though: When you are traveling with it, its VERY heavy so I always had to have the front loader attached and some pig iron in the bucket. The unit had a hydraulic cylinder for dumping it and I had to run it off one of the loader circuits. You really need a hydraulic dump to control the flow when pouring because of the weight, especially when it starts to flow. The load makes a slab approx. 4' by 4' by 4" . The features of a tractor mixer are the prep at a site where the water and gravel are. Then you get to take it where its needed, finish up and wash it out. The alternative for me was to get some ready-mix, either delivered or in a cart, and struggle with the timing of everything. Well worth the $150 I paid for it. Most fun was having the dogs leave their prints in the slab. I was mad at the time, but after their passing, I still smile and wipe a tear when I walk to the barn and see them....
