Grading CC box blade

Our local retailer displays a cub cadet with a mechanical box scraper attachment for about $400. the box scraper and the hitch attachment. It looks like it may work for moving small amounts of gravel or loose dirt. They also sell a disc which is a joke. From time to time I need to spread some gravel and hope some of you have some experience with this box blade and hitch. I'm considering the 1500/2500 series. Also need to haul a cart along with spring grass mowing for 3 acres.
