I've been dealing with osteoarthritis for about 12 years now, and have been taking daily doses of both celecoxib and acetominophen to ease the pain. Between that and keeping on the move as much as possible, I've been able to do pretty much whatever I want. I had a telephone appointment with my doctor last week, and he told me I should give CBD oil a try, he said it's made a big difference for some people.

So off I go today, covid mask in place, and line up at a higher end cannabis store. A bit of an odd feeling, I never was one for the recreational drugs thing, but then, my intent was medical. The young lady behind the counter seemed very knowledgeable, and a few minutes later I walked out $22 lighter and a 30 ml bottle in my pocket. Tomorrow morning I'll take my first dose.

Any experience out there with this stuff? Does it help?

I'd be interested in the replies also. Got arthritis in my hands, base of thumb especially and my knees and hip I still enjoy riding my bike but after less than an hour my hands are froze up. I've got cruise which helps but kind of hard to use it around town LOL. Sucks getting old...........Mike

Chug it. Well, not really, it's sublingual drops. The CBD oil is mixed with a carrier oil. I start with a low dose for a few days, and increase gradually until there is an effect. There is a very little bit of THC in it, but even at the highest dose it's not enough to make me high. Or so they say. I'll report back. Is it really possible that no one else out there has tried this stuff?

Well, Sharn Jean has some skin cream that I use occasionally; works really well...otherwise, all I've done is think about it.

Only for our dog... eatables. Wish there was more THC in there for him... :pawprint: :scooby-doo: :eek:die: :pawprint: He's nuts but better with the treats (too scared to skip his treats now to see if they really work).

I would kind of prefer a way to make the condition stop hurting rather than taking pain relief 24/7. Is that unreasonable?

Stepdads coworker used to take home PCB transformer oil to rub on his joints.

A while back on a construction site guys were complaining of sore joints.

The next day I displayed my cure.

I had used clear tape to attach a grease zerk onto my knee!

I and several friends have made CBD products for personal use. Tinctures, salves, and ointments. I would be surprised if any CBD product would greatly help arthritis, but hope there is one. I know of a woman who has some sort of severe ailment, and the only CBD strain of marijuana that helps her is called, Girl Scout Cookies.

When it comes to arthritis, and I've had a bout or two, especially when younger, Now, at age 77, I've been free of it for over 45 years. I will attribute this to an almost daily consumption of flax seed meal in my steel cut oats. Also, back when I first struggled with arthritis in my hips, I was turned on the use of alfalfa tablets, which I consumed 3x daily for a couple of weeks. Alfalfa is a deep diving plant bringing valuable minerals to the foliage.

There are numerous plants in nature which when one does a little research they will be amazed at what God has naturally provided for medicine. See #8 in this article about curcumin, for arthritis relief. 1 Proven Health Benefits of Turmeric and Curcumin

Worst thing is, there is no rhyme or reason to my discomfort. Hard to treat a condition like that. One day get out of bed without a problem. Next day, can't bend down to pick up the cats dish. No way, no how!

I've used it regularly during hay season for extreme knee and shoulder pain (Hockey injuries). Oddly enough, these two sites had surgery to fix them, but made it worse. I found that the 5000 mg CBD bottle content worked just fine (from Florida). Since then G.F. offered be a few of her Celebrex pills. 1 pill a day makes me completely pain free. I also get legal THC now from a shop in Ann Arbor. This also works well but I will not drive or operate machinery, so I take it at night. Sleep like a baby. No hangover, headache, or pain. Both THC and Celebrex last for about 18 hrs and act immediately.

The problem I have with all this is that I feel so good, I forget to stay on the schedule. My bone on bone is still there (everybody can here the clunking noises), but I am pain free.

Yes, My old Lab reacted REALLY well to the CBD oil. 3 drops on a dog biscuit. Ran, climbed stairs, went running with the other dogs. When I would test the theory by not giving it to her, she'd stay downstairs and refuse to come up for dinner.

In case you were wondering THC for dogs is a big no-no. They don't metabolize it like we do. Plus, I have a FLIR camera and could see the white 'hot zones' in her back and hips. Not so with the 5000mg CBD oil.

The wifey swears by it! When she had a CT scan of her back, the Dr was surprised that she was still walking..... she started with the CBD liquid, but soon switched to the capsules. No THC. She takes 2500mg in the morning and again at night. It has been 6 years and she still walks fine and takes care of the household chores. She has to stop and relax frequently, but is still up and moving.

She had forgotten to order it one time and ran out for about 5 days..... she couldn't stand the pain and was barely able to walk.... the stuff works!

Oh, forgot to mention.... our 14 y/o schnauzer still runs and bounces like a rabbit! She gets a dose in her morning food.

It's not unreasonable to prefer that, it just might not be possible... there is no cure for osteoarthritis, just treatments to make living with it more tolerable.

Many of my friends swear by cbd oil to lessen minor arthritis pain, it doesn't seem to do much for me though. My wife suggested Arnica cream , it works like a charm for me, but some of my pals don't do as well as I with it. So if cbd oil doesn't do the trick for you consider Arnica. Easy to find at Walgreens, CVS, and so forth, and is only a fraction of the cost of cbd.
FWIW when I worked at Social Security we had more people on disability rolls with severe arthritis than any other ailment. People with cancers, heart disease, AIDS, and other horrible impairments weren't usually with us too long before they died; people with bad arthritis hung around for a long time getting stiffer and stiffer before they passed from something else like old age. They died with arthritis, not from it.

My wife was having bad lower back pain a few weeks ago, not normal for her, so as we had a jar of cbd cream, good quality stuff from Vermont we got in a grocery store that a friend recommended. It is the kind you can imbibe (sublingual) or just rub on. I rubbed some on twice a day for a few days and each time it provided relief that got better for an hour after I rubbed it on and after 4 days she was having no more pain. It could have just been a coincidence, but she felt it helped a lot.

Glad you mentioned Turmeric and Curcumin. It works.

A few years ago we flew into Dublin where we had to stand and shuffle through the human cattle queue to get through Immigration. I had a back pack on my back, was carrying my wife's small back pack and I had another small back pack to carry as well. The line would move forward, I would pick up the two small back packs, shuffle forward, and put the back packs back down on the floor. This went out for close to an hour with this motion going on and on. I think the combination of bending over and lifting, which was not bad in itself, but the pack on my back kept my should in a certain position which, with the lifting and lowering, was NOT good. I had pain all during the trip. Not bad but not good either. Given I was hiking with a back pack with 35 or so pounds either through thick beach sand or up a mountain during the trip, I was not helping the injury.

We got back home and the pain was getting better but no going away. After six months or so I went to the doctor and the did an X-ray. Nothing structurally wrong with the shoulder, "just" inflammation. Doc said I could tack 800mg of Ibuprofen each day for a month or two, or take steroid shot in the arm. Figure taking 800mg a day was NOT a good thing, and that I could do it if I needed too, I took the shot...

The steroid worked for about a month, and the shoulder pain was better, but not better. I did NOT want to take 800mg of Ibuprofen for any length of time so decided to take a supplement with Turmeric and Curcumin. Danged stuff worked! Very quickly, the pain was lessoned and in a few months, the pain was gone.

I now take one a day to just ease any inflammation I have, I try to walk/job 20,000 steps a day, and if I have any soreness, the supplement knocks it out. When I have had soft tissue pain for one reason or another, I will take up to 3 of the supplements a day, the max according to the instructions, and the pain goes away pretty quickly. I have run out of the supplement a time or two, and I can feel the difference when I do not use it daily.

Later,
Dan

It's been nearly a month since I started taking the CBD oil (see my OP) and I'm now a believer. I started with a low dose, gradually increased it, and then backed off some, trying each dose for several days. Now, rather than taking 100mg of celecoxib twice a day, I'm down to 100mg in the evening. I've cut the acetaminophen from 3 grams a day to 1/2 gram, also in the evening. I want to make sure I have a good sleep and not be woken by pain. I take 14.5mg of the CBD in the morning, and that's it until the evening. And I feel great, honestly better than I have felt in a long time. That's my story about this stuff, I will keep on with it, and eventually try to completely eliminate the celecoxib completely. YMMV.

CBD oil works for my arthritus. I rub it on the affected joints, mostly in my hands, but my knee gets some too. I take it as needed. 2500 mg.

Glad to hear it’s working for you Dougeye!

One of my Co-workers started taking the CBD drops and completely 100% was able to stop taking this medicine for diabetes. His doctor was confused and asked how he did it. When he explained CBD oil the doctor was dumbfounded.

CBD oil is great, but the entire plant is better. (I’d recommend edibles) There are a lot more benefits to the plant other than just CBD, you can find tons of info online about this.

Anyone who dislikes the effects of the entire plant should take very small doses right before bed to start out with. Then up the dosage as they build up a tolerance.
