Thank you for reading.
My CAV DPA was leaking badly.
I removed the pump after photographing the timing mark and circlip.

Manual said the timing gear would hold in place but I think the gear may have moved one tooth, my bad but not certain.

Second problem is the diesel shop did not leave the circlip in position.

Pump is in and engine starts well. Rough at lower rpm. Smooths at half but not as before. But smoking white diesel at all speeds.

I think timing gear is 33 teeth (10.9deg per tooth). Mount has about 5 Deg swing and probably 3 to 4 Deg off.

In Colombia enroute Panama and all shops are Spanish speaking.

Plan. Get access to CAV DPA by stripping aux pieces.

Move timing gear one tooth CW. Flange on scribed marked. Start engine.

Move timing gear one tooth CCW (from original position). Start engine.

Question. Will the engine run if timing is 1 tooth or 10.9 Deg off?

Thank you for any assistance.
