Cause of 2538 increased idle RPMs to 3000?

Started engine - rpms at 3000 and not decreasing after suggestions to remedy....battery ok.

Does anyone know what might cause rpms to increase at idle?

I would appreciate any suggestion or advice before last ditch option - hauling in to dealer.

Could be your throttle cable has slipped, or gotten stuck.

Check on the left side of the engine, about 1/3 of the way in front of the firewall. You'll see the cable attached to a black plastic arm, that pivots sideways. That's the throttle control. I happened to check mine yesterday, and didn't see (wasn't looking hard) an idle adjustment screw. That's why I suggested to check the stop on the cable. Maybe check where the cable goes thru the firewall as well.

The thing I didn't mention was that the engine was not functioning as if the "rpm's" were that high - I figure it should be screaming. Yes?

As this is all new to me, I was hesitant to assume that maybe the tachometer needle was off or something similar.

But, after checking through possibilities, I called the dealer.

Result: I am the 4th owner of Mahindra 2538 in my area to report similarly. Tachometer reading affected. Instrument panel needs replacing - under warranty.
