My cats entrance was through a basement window that was converted into a cat door.
I knew I had to deal with some mangled animal when he'd come up the basement stairs and meow.
It was different than his usually pet me, feed me meow.
It was guttural and deep.
It might be a baby bunny, snake, toad, bird...
He wasn't very discerning who he mutilated or murdered.
And he was always surprised when it wasn't met with reward.
17 years and it didn't change.
