I was running my backhoe and I noticed it dripping. I'm looking for the name of the part in the picture. And any repair recommendations/help. Thanks. Ps it's definitely coming from the piece in the picture

It looks like a JIC fitting and you might be able to just tighten the 2 fittings.
They can vibrate loose.

Can you get rid of that 90 change the angle of the fitting on the cylinder and hook the hose directly to it. There may or may not be a compression washer in the end that connects to the fitting on the cylinder.

Could I, yes. Do I want to, no. I'd rather keep it stock.

With the engine off, will the hydraulics still be under pressure? Like when I unscrew it, will fluid spray everywhere or just drain out?

You will need to find a relaxed position for the boom and cylinders.
Even then there might be light pressure on the fitting.
I would take the fitting loose and check for a crack or other problem.
You can find a wide variety of fittings at Surpluscenter.com who is also a sponsor on this site.

You'll need two wrenches to remove or tighten that, one to hold the 90 degree to keep pressure away from the cylinder stud and another for the nut on the cylinder itself. Clean the area with brake clean to make sure it's not leaking from the cylinder stud. Wrap the fitting with a cloth before hand.

Alex stretch the boom out shut off the machine and then activate all the hoe levers this will release any pressure.

Caterpillar uses ORFS fittings. If the fittings are tight and still leaking, disassemble the leaking fitting and check for damage to the o-ring.

Thanks guys, checked it out again and it was just loose. Tightened it up and I was good to go. Then I cracked the bucket -_-
