Cat 257B Tracked Skid Steer

I have been doing a lot of research on the CAT 257B. I hope to demo one in the next week or so. Basically, I need a loader that can handle full pallets of sod or pavers(sometimes moving them off of a semi-trailer) and do finish grading work (harley rake and 4in1 bucket with toothbar). Can a CAT 257B do this comfortably. I have a JD4720 CAB that stuggles with a pallet of sod.

The 257B will probably be about borderline with pallets and a full pallet. Its tipping capacity is slightly less than that of the T190, and the T190 is all right with a full pallet of sod. That being said, I don't recommend going to the full tipping capacity of the machine. It's rather dangerous to operate that close to the operating envelope.

I have a 257 and it is a excellent machine,I purchased it a little over 3 years ago I have used it to unload a lot of heavy stuf, I have unloaded full pallets of sod with no problem I would put the weight around 2500 lbs. it is stable however you should be very careful keep the load low when traveling and go slow, I would not want to do this on a steady diet. I have an asv rc100 that I now use for the heavy loads. However The Cat is very nimble and it is great doing landscape work I love using it with the Harley rake it does an excellent job. I give the cat better marks in regards to the asv when it comes to quality. I have used the cat to unload full pallets of stones and it comes close to the machine tipping you get the feeling the rear is coming off the ground I understand the stone pallets are around 3000 lbs you are really pushing the machine.
