New to me 885 needs some engine oil. Two problems.. feels darn stupid. In the throat of the oil filler atop the engine is an oil overflow. Immediately beneath that is a stainless round perforated inset filter apparently filled with stainless “wool”. The oil is not dropping quickly into the engine causing wasteful and messy leakage out the overflow. I presume the inset filter is dirty. Try as I might… I cannot get that filter to lift out for cleaning. WTH is the trick?? It needs to lift straight up in the filler throat. I’ve tried long nosed pliers to grab a couple perforations to lift up. Not working. It does rotate/spin freely. No corrosion or visible damage. It doesn’t appear threaded. Ideas… experience with this??
