Case-IH DX33 PTO not staying in gear.

Thank you. I do agree that it seems inside the transmission.

I am looking to converse on how to fix it. Should i assume that i need to remove both fenders and work toward draining the oil from the transmission and get the top cover off? or is the problem area accessible somehow else?
Unfortunately yes, the fenders will need to come off to allow removal the lift housing. When I get into one for this reason I also remove item #3 on this diagram. It provides another access to reach in and wipe out more of the scrap metal fragments.

Thank you.

I will get the other fender off and see where that takes me. Thank you for now. I'll be back with more pictures and questions.

Yes the feel like they are operating as they should. I’ll take off other fender and foot platform if necessary next. I do see the lift housing casting on top of transmission. Also I’ll drain the oil too and resave it as it only has 67 hours of use to it

Well we found the problem.

Pto gears are torn up

Took off seat and both fenders then took off the top of rear end where the 3 points attached. The 2 meshing gears need replacing. Now need to find some part numbers and a place to get them 😊

Is your tractor a hydro or gear?

Can those gears be replaced without splitting the tractor?

Someone has being forcing that PTO lever and grinding gears, instead of using the clutch to engage the PTO. Over time, it leads to this situation.

Messicks seems to be a good source for parts.
