Hi there I have a 580c just got the transaxle back from the shop and put back in the machine. The problem I'm having is the top plate with shift forks did not make it down with the transaxle. I've tried a few different ways to line up the shift forks and install it but it never seems to have the right pattern or work properly. What might I be missing? Any help would be appreciated thanks

Make sure the sliding gears on the main shaft either side of the synchronizer assy. have not slid, and engaged themselves. You also need to make sure the slide rails are in the proper position, which I'm assuming you're trying to put it back together in the neutral position.

I have had the sliding gears move, even though you think it is setting perfectly level, and slide as I'm lowering the shift tower. I've put a dab of grease on my finger, and put it on the main shaft to hold the sliding gears in place, if they have a tendency to do that.
