I am looking to buy a garden tractor to mow a 2 acre lawn, and possibly plow a small drive way.I have found a kubota g4200 with low hours and a case 446 (red in color)that is in good shape also. Are these machines similar in capability? Hard to find a plow or blower for these older units?

Welcome aboard Hacker. I'm not that familiar with the Kubota, but I'm sure its a good machine. For finish mowing I prefer a belly mower, vs the rear drag behinds. Allows you to get closer to trees, beds and obstructions. Make sure the deck extends outside the wheels to take full advantage of this. For plowing go with 4wd if you can, its a world of difference particularly if on a hill or in ruts etc. Consider a front plow vs a rear blade its a lot easy to see where your going and easier on your neck. The Case machines have a good following and parts are available from Ingersoll. I would consider either machine but be sure you have a good dealer nearby for support. Do a search under lawn tractors I'm sure you will find lots of info.

I own a Case (Ingersoll) and a Kubota B series. The Ingersoll is a high quality lawn and garden tractor, but the Kubota is a small agricultural / industrial quality machine. So, I'd go with the Kubota if it fits your needs. I think it will outlast the Ingersoll and provide more versatility for other jobs. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one.

Just got a G4200 and having owned a 446 in the past, I vote Kubota all the way. The 446 is a great unit, but the Kubota is a far better tractor.
