case 400 slow loader hyd

Hello all , I'm not sure if i really have an issue or not but thought I would get your input. I bought a case 400 gas a while back not sure on the year but the price was great. It came with an old case loader and has 1 way lift arms and 2 way cylinder for the bucket. The hydraulics are hooked the 3 pt controls now. My concern isn't so much how slow it is although it's annoying, but it won't lift much at all for weight and I have to have the throttle wide open to move the loader at all. The cylinders don't seem to be leaking and it will stay up in the air all night. Im going to check fluid level tonight. Thanks to anybody that can help! I

Tractor data says you have this, and if that is correct, you don't have much to begin with.

Hydraulics:
Capacity: 2.25 gal [8.5 L]
2.6 gal [9.8 L] (with Eagle Hitch)
Pressure: 600 psi [41.4 bar]
Valves: 2 (optional)
Total flow: 12 gpm [45.4 lpm]

The if the pump is worn and the valve is leaking, the you might not be able to do very much.

You can check the GPM and the pressure for specs

Wow that was quick! I don't have a pressure tester laying around nor do I feel like bringing it in.... so since I know the loader is good (pretty darn sure anyway), could I just put a pto pump on? I haven't really checked it out but I think I have live pto. I'm just clueless on where I would be fine on a project like that. Thoughts?

Tractor data says you have 50 belt HP, so you have enough HP to run a PTO pump.

You can rig up a nice hyd system, but it will be costly.

tank
valve
hoses and fittings

Frame to hold everything.

Thanks again, what size pump do you think I need? 21 gpm or could go smaller? Found one new for 450. I'm thinking 3/4 in lines and fittings. Not sure on size of the tak... 15 gal maybe? Lastly valve, will I need to change out my one way lift cylinders to match my bucket cyl? I like the idea of a single joystick. Oh and cant forget a filter setup. Thanks alot

This PTO pump requires about 32 HP, and will produce about 21 GPM at 2200 psi.

9.9 CU IN PRINCE HC-PTO-1AC PTO PUMP CI 540 RPM

This PTO pump requires about 18 HP an pumps about 11.4 GPM at 2200 psi.

5.7 CU IN PRINCE HC-PTO-2AC PTO PUMP CI 540 RPM

GPM equates to speed of operation. More GPM, the faster hyd components will work.

I would also go with DA cyl on loader.

Update of sorts. This morning I fired the 400 up and the hydraulics seemed to work alot faster. Went right up all the way and at only half throttle. The only difference is the temp. About 45 deg this morning. Any thoughts on that? Also concerning the pto pump, and maybe I should start a new thread, my pto turns whenever I let the clutch out but if I want to have it on all the time by use of the pto clutch it won't engage. I can pull the lever back and it does "click" in but no spin. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds like your pump is worn quite a lot. Oil is thicker when cold so pump leaks by less and pumps more. Maybe you could replace the pump you have and be good to go.

Thanks for the reply. A failing pump would probably push me into the pto route even more. I looked at the above mentioned pumps and would probably go with the 21 gpm. Now I just need to figure out all the other stuff I need to get. I know it will be pricey but the tractor is a good runner and will use it a long time mostly just for snow removal. I'm baffled on the pto clutch though. I just bought a manual and see it shows how to adjust it so maybe I will try that tonight . Hopefully someone has some advice on that. I will try and post a parts list for a new hyd system and see if ya'll think I'm missing anything. Thanks.
