Case 245 lift issues.

198? Case 245, 7qa loader. I notice last week that it started to have issues raising the loader, and the 3pt hitch. it is slow and jerky, until it has run for awhile and then it seem Okay. it is between 60 and 70 degs here. The fluid level is good, but is milky, but has been for a while. Wondering if the pump could be having issues, or a fluid issue. I drained and replaced as much fluid as I could, 2 years ago, and plan on doing so again. Any suggestions on the lift issues or on a good way to purge the most fluid out of the system?

Update. The next time I went to use the tractor, all the hydraulics are gone. No filter to speak of, just a strainer. Looks like I need to pull and check the pump.

Assuming you have checked and cleaned the strainer with little or no improvement? I would suggest before removing the pump you loosen the mounting bolts on the output line on top of the pump. Don't remove them, just back them out two or three threads, then start the engine and let it run a few seconds (with a pan under the pump) to see what happens. The pump may pick up prime and start pumping again, maybe not. Pulling the pump off and dismantling it not knowing what you're looking at or looking for probably won't help much if you can't get parts or a replacement for it.

You should be able to readily pull the pump. I'm not sure how you plan to check it. Your Case is made by Mitsubishi. I had a Mitsubishi tractor of about the same vintage. I took my pump to a local hydraulic shop where I learned repair parts are not available. I was able to find a brand new replacement pump on eBay for what I considered a reasonable price.
