I own an 1816B skid steer. It doesn't steer well or have much power. I think this is due to slipping belts or weak pumps or hydros. Can the belts be replaced without removing the engine. I also heard that there is an upgrade belt tensioner out there. I can be reached at 803-3315107 or ormands@nebnet.net. Thanks.

I would think you would be hearing the belts slip if that was your problem, but I'm not familiar with the Case skids.

Are the belts exposed so that you can check the tension?

Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level and is it the correct viscosity?

What about the hydraulic filter? When has it last been changed? If the pump(s) are starved for fluid, you'll have diminished performance and accelerated pump wear.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.
