Carry All Mainer Version

I finally got to make a carry all that I have been hemming all about. I ended up using wood for the removable sides, 1.5 tubing for the rear stakes and 2X10 for the body. Overall I think it will work out well, mostly using it for wood both cut and 4' length, thus the stakes in the back. It weighs more than I expected, and full of wood I suspect it will be near capacity. I can feel it 1/2 loaded already. I have about 300.00 dollars into it and about 1.5 days of work. I had a great time doing it, which made it a deal for me, except for it being so cold. I am not getting used to this cold in Maine. It will be my first in 25 years. I went through 2 propane tanks trying to keep warm.

My Dad would have said "You can get a good jag of wood on there !". Esp. with hardwood, that will add up.

Nice build quality, and will be a good ballast for the FEL, if you don't have another one already.

Cold - layer up, and buy really good long johns (top and bottom) to start. Eddie Bauer is my favourite. Easy for time to fly on a build project - remember to keep eating healthy snacks as you work - everybody burns more calories in the Cold. I also typically wear a good winter vest, under my coat.

Well done. I may be building a box for my carry all today, if, I get some other chores finished. I like the removeable sides idea. I may borrow that from you.

I agree, it appears to be much too well constructed to be made by a local. Try it again but only put $30 into it and let us know how it comes out. You can use materials from the dump.

Yup, MUCH too fancy. Ya gotta use a couple of old pallets, bed iron, chicken wire, some duct tape and at least one Maine State Flag (blue tarp)

Any more details of the construction? What did you start with for a Carry-All? Yours is built with higher quality than most 'Mainer Versions' that I have seen. Dang... you just created another project for my ever growing list.

I bought the frame for the carry all from TSC in Scarborough, and them added 2X10's to the frame, I made the sides out of PT decking bolted to PT 2x4 reinforced with metal corners, 2 removable stakes for the rear to hold 4 foot length wood, added to chain saw cradle with file holders and axe/maul holder. I've used it for 2 days and it's working out to be quite handy. Not quite heavy enough of a ballast for the plow, but I'm sure it weights nearly 400 pounds.

Any more details of the construction? What did you start with for a Carry-All? Yours is built with higher quality than most 'Mainer Versions' that I have seen. Dang... you just created another project for my ever growing list.
