I have had both done now. The first one they also worked on the nerve in the elbow because it was a different issue. My little and ring finger were numb and that took care of it. It took probably two tears for it to be 100% normal again. What I mean is the nerve takes time to heal and that was the process involved.
As for the carpal tunnel it was a breeze. They did my right wrist and all they did was numb my hand/wrist and went in through the palm. It took 6 minutes start to finish. You can't tell by looking at either hand that anything was done. The incision is only like an inch long and on one of the lines or creases that is already there. My palm was tender for a few weeks even when the incision was healed.
All this to say get it done because you will wonder why you waited. Make sure it's "microsurgery" because that's the little incision. Avoid any old school surgeon that wants to make a huge incision like they used to do. Hopefully they have all retired by now. As I understand it there are rare instances where that method is the only option still.
