Carnaval Cruise

On our last cruise out of Galveston, we were detained on our return, because of fog.We were past Lunch getting to leave the ship. Don't book your flights out of Houston too close to expected return times. We have been delayed leaving Galveston before too, because the immigration was checking the departies.. Horrible lines and people not wanting to wait can really try your nerves..Carnival has about the same type of people on their ships. Un-controlled children are a pain in the Kiester on any ship. We still like to cruise, but choose our ports carefully..Looks like you have good price, where is your room located generally?

We did the same cruse through Carnival last spring. The two days at sea with out stops kind of suck but people watching at the pools and the decks is pretty cool. I took the ship tour that you would like, went snorkling two different places (take your own gear) and went on the Harley ride in Cozumel,(need a US motorcycle license) These were all fun.
If you are an active person sea sick will not be a problem. I thought I would be bored to death when my wife talked me in to going. It wasn't that bad.

I can not wait to see pics of what you build on the cruise ship.

It is not boring around the pools, i try to swim , mingle, and relax. We went to Cozumel, Jammica, and the Caymens the last trip. We saw them giving the Scuba lessons inside the wire. I would like to swim with and pet the Rays.

My wife gets seasick and carsick. Always has to ride shotgun. Before going on a cruise or flying she gets the little white patches that you stick on behind your ear. Put it on when you get to the dock and you won't have any trouble. They are called Trans ( something ) Scop.

Have been on one cruise, with wife and two teenage daughters, and enjoyed it very much.

Spent many years cruising around the world on aircraft carriers and they paid me... Even gave me two beers for every 60 days at sea... NO stinkin way I would ever pay to ride a ship.

Thanks for your service to our country. I've watched a few shows on TV on aircraft carriers. They certainly are huge complex machines. I'd love an in-depth tour but I'm sure that will never happen. There is a WWII tank landing ship in a town near us which has been extensively renovated. It is open for tours and they pretty much let you roam around the ship unescorted. Compared to an aircraft carrier I'm sure this is a small ship.

I must be the oddball here, My wife and I took a cruse a long time ago and it was free, that is I bought enough stuff from one of my suppliers that I earned the trip. We went to the Bahama's. Well you'd have to PAY ME to go on another one! For me it was like a week ride on a city bus. I guess, never been on one of those either. Too many people in too small of a space, ya had to dress up for dinner and eat when they told you to, and just plain too fancy for this old boy! Would much rather be out on the tractor and the dirt!

Not for me after one, although I know some people love them. I'd much rather go to an all inclusive resort where I know the cost and have the option to leave the grounds if I get bored. I also have to wonder why you hear of so many incidents where a large percentage of the passengers get sick? Makes me wonder how well the things you don't see are being done.

Okay, cruises have changed a lot the last few years. They don't cost as much and are not nearly as fancy. The larger ships can haul over 5000, like a carrier, but with better amusements. The week long resort would bore me to death, i do get tired of seeing the same groups on the ship too. Our last one was medium size with 3000, and that seemed to be plenty when trying to leave the ship...As to getting the Stomach flu, or a mass illness, so far keeping fingers crossed..Personally I hate Flying to get there, talk about cramped?

wine wine wine...... did I mention that they serve wine on the cruise. I LOVED the cruise. They had food everywheres except in the elevator. You can eat whenever and as much as you want. I went on a massive diet before the cruise..gained it all back:licking::drink::drink:

Eddie Walker will be going when the kids are in school. Mostly all adults. Ed now if you need to get "fired up a little" for your honeymoon. Go to the top rear deck swimsuits are optional. Or at least the women are tanning with their tops off.

Do not tell your new wife it was my idea. You must provide romance, dancing, etc. and remember it is your dream wish to have her as your wife.

A friend wants me to join her on a cruise for 7 days in the Western Caribbean. It goes from Galveston to Montego Bay then George Town then to Cozumel and then back to Galveston. Cost would be $529 each pluse all the extras.

I've never been on a cruise and don't know if I'd like it or not. I don't need to decide right away, but the sooner, the better.

Has anybody been on this cruise? Any thoughts on cruises in general?

Thanks,
Eddie

I've only been on one cruise (not including the free 2 years worth in the Marines) and enjoyed it very much. Will definitely go again time and $$ permitting.
Since you've never been, and that seeming to be a very reasonable price, why not go and see how you like it?
I would expect you'll spend at least that amount on the "extras", not knowing what the price includes.
Go and enjoy!

I've been on 3 cruises. Originally I never planned or expected or wanted to go on a cruise. I felt that I'd be "trapped" in a small area for many days. What convinced me to go on the first cruise was that I was on assignment on the opposite side of the country and could come home early at the company expense for 1st class air fare to join them on a 3 day cruise. After 2 weeks of 16 hour days 7 days a week, it sounded like a good trade. Turned out that I enjoyed it. Be sure you have a big ship. There are more things to do on board and the food buffets are open longer with the bigger ships.

The downside is that the ships are seldom in port long enough to really check out the area. There is a lot of jewelry and art sales that are pushed on the cruise and on shore - most is of low quality that would not sell in your home town. (i.e. colored diamonds and other off colored gem stones)

The funiest esposide of "Everybody loves Raymond" was when Ray and his mother went on a cruise together. Cruise director assumed they were a couple.
