I have 3 different Carhart jackets. I cannot think of a more durable jacket than Carhart's.

I have the traditional coat with arctic quilted lining, then the duck jean jacket blanket lined, and the workcamo active jacket quilted flannel lined.

I wear the jean jacket probably the most, since moving to SC since it is a shorter jacket and it really does not get extremely cold down here.

The thing that bothers me about most of the jackets are the zippers. They do not have double zippers. I like to unzip the bottom of a jacket up some while leaving the top portion zipped. Handy for sitting in a truck, etc. Maybe by now, they have incorporated double zippers. My jackets are years old.

One of my friends always says..."If the country went to **** in a handbasket, the only things left would be ole Redbug, his Carhart, and the cockroaches!".

Uh.. Chris? What's a Floridian know about cold weather gear? ;)

(I was in Daytona Beach for the 1986 Bike week and liked to froze my tail off 'cause I left all my winter duds at home! I know it CAN get cold there)

Hello All,
This is a subject I have been thinking about. Does anyone know where I might be able to find what I call a Chore Coat. A denim coat with two large pockets and two small chest pockets. No Lining. The one I want to replace has large metal buttons, not a zipper. I can not seem to find one of these that was always available at TSC and Sears thirty or forty years ago.
Thanks, Tim

We are having a crazy one this year.. mostly still have temps in the 80s.. but have a few mornings in the 40's.. and a few days this month have produced temps in the high 20's.. enough to freeze some ice over my horse water buckets.. etc..

For high quality hunting and work wear, try Filson. Not cheap, but definitely long lasting. Also American made.
I've got the Packer Coat (Filson - Tin Cloth Packer Coat) which you can layer under. I've never had a coat that blocks the wind or cold air like this one. It's also got a double zipper so you can open the lower part whil the top is zipped. That's right handy, men.

Thanks again Brian,
The Pointer brand items looks exactly like what we are looking for.
Will post a note in a couple weeks about the quality and value we find.
