care of a lagoon

I want ask all of you that have a lagoon how you take care of any weeds or grasses that grow in or by the lagoon ( waters edge) how you take care of this. Can you use a weed and grass killer from a sprayer? Let me know, we are completely new with a lagoon.

I just spray the weeds & johnson grass around my lagoon with round-up.Been doin that for 10 yrs now.I mow around the rest of it.BTW,I'm an ol mechanic too! Mike
